"For Thine is the Kingdom" is a collection of symbolic landscape tiles inspired by the stories, beliefs and symbols of our ancestors, which serve as a means of cultural remembrance by documenting both history and the ancient ceremonies that connect us to our roots.
Cultural memory has always been my abode, from which I set out on a journey, collecting and illuminating what has been lost and giving it back a place in my world.
Combining my art with my metaphysical visits into the past, I have been led to a place where boundaries melt, allowing me to observe time in every direction, from an invisible opening. It is like a gateway, where a beam of light can transcend the different dimensions of the universe and reveal a paradox that cannot exist in the physical world.
My inner path is dominated by a recurring experience that lies between the spiritual and the material worlds.
Within me, an artistic vision that would have challenged what was practiced and accepted in the past, now allows me to move freely between present and distant times.
When unrestrained thoughts collide with earlier culturally-repressed voices, these encounters provide another layer of meaning to my work. By engraving tiles in symbolic images, I examine the relationships between current objects and remnants of the past, and discover new stories to be told. This perspective cultivates, for me, a sense of both belonging and empowerment regarding my position along the continuum.
It is a process of recording memory and continually weaving it into both my growing identity and my view of the endless.
